In 1987, Rick & Phyllis VerStrate had a dream about opening a pizza place. After working for relatives in other family-owned restaurants for many years, they decided to put all their experience in to opening Sara’s Pizza in October of 1987.

Phyllis’ grandfather taught them to make dough, just like they do in the old Sicilian bakeries. Nonna Maria, her mom, taught them how to make everything the old-fashioned way, homemade spaghetti sauce, lasagna, meatballs and more!

All of our pizzas are hand tossed and made special for each customer. Not only do we use our family recipes, that have been passed through the generations, but we cook them the old fashion way in our stone ovens.

Over 36 years later, we are still a family owned and operated restaurant that has a passion of using fresh ingredients to bring great tasting Italian flavors to our customers.
